Putting lotion or foot cream on your feet should be a daily routine just as it when you put lotion on your body.  A tip on achieving softness is to apply some petroleum jelly to your feet and slip on some socks.  Do this before going to bed to achieve the full affect.  Your feet will be soft and smooth the next morning.
